Besides getting FRIED our first day out (Hawaiian weather is soooo unpredictable and don’t let the thick clouds and rainy forecast get ya! You’ll end up at a beach 10 miles down the road that has not a cloud in the sky!), Hawaii was a blast! Seriously though, pregnancy hormones and first sun of the season makes for the WORST sunburn I have yet to experience. I’m no fan of sunscreen and shade, but I sure was this go-round! Once we found incredibly cheap tickets to Hawaii, we just had to join our good friends, Mike & Shanna, for a fun little getaway!! We drove through the night to take an Allegiant flight first thing in the morning (don’t show up too early, Allegiant only shows up 2 hours before the flight!). We laughed as the same lady that checked us in, also took our tickets at the gate–definitely a one-man-show (surprised she didn’t fly the plane too!) ha! And, those seats. No recline and two inches in front makes for a looooooooonger 6 hours than it should’ve seemed! Cam and I stayed at a Turtle Beach condo and Mike & Shanna stayed with some friends from a ropes course they knew. We decided to rent a car on day 3 (“just 4 more stops” became the theme of our trip… the bus takes foooooorrrrrrever (a LOT more than 4 stops away!) darn you, 55!) First time renting a car, and it was well worth it! We went to Pearl Harbor, the Laie Temple, ropes course being built by Mike & Shanna’s friends, hanging out at the beach (feeling weightless in the water never felt sooo good!), and ate the same hamburger 3 times! It was so fun showing Cam around where I studied at BYU-H summer 2010 and where all the beach “Dear Elder Schroeder…” letters were written. Hawaii will always have a special place in my heart, even if my legs hated it!
